Sean Welch is a recent Wine & Spirit Education Trust Diploma graduate who wrote to me recently to explain how useful his Purple Pages membership had been when he was studying. Among the course materials are the Study Guides, which have lists of over 2,000 entries in the Oxford Companion to Wine which students are recommended to read and retain (sounds pretty challenging to me). At the moment these lists are available only in print but, like many WSET students, Sean was travelling frequently in the months leading up to the exam, so he found it useful to arm himself with a series of links to the corresponding entries in the online version of OCW that is available exclusively to members of Purple Pages here at JancisRobinson.com.
Our online version, incidentally, is the most up-to-date that there is since it is based on the most recent, third edition of this classic reference work but incorporates many (generally minor) updates that are not in the printed work. Sean, by the way, has the full co-operation of both the WSET and the JancisRobinson.com team in this enterprise.
Sean passed his Diploma exam in January and is now generously allowing other WSET Diploma students to take advantage of the work he put in devising these pages of links. The links for the Study Guides Units 3, 5 and 6 can now be accessed on his wine blog drunk.com here.
I should point out that WSET students are offered a substantial £20 discount on a year's membership of Purple Pages. The WSET and its education providers can disseminate the relevant discount codes.
