I stupidly forgot to say earlier that I shall be co-hosting a tasting of really interesting wines this Wednesday evening 19 October in New York in aid of Room to Read. (You know that feeling that you only really get to grips with a week once it's in prospect...?)
The idea of the evening is to increase awareness in New York of this wonderful organisation that is so effectively spreading literacy throughout the developing world, to raise a bit of money for it, and of course to have a thoroughly good time. It would be lovely to meet a few Purple pagers and other visitors to JancisRobinson.com there.
New York Vintners in Tribeca are very kindly hosting the event and have chosen some seriously good and interesting wines from around the world to share with us. This tasting should educate the mind and palate while drawing the world together, just like Room to Read.

New York Vintners are famous for their wine events. Their chef will be in attendance and antipasti will also be served. I will be talking twice about the wines, first whites, then reds, but this is a social, walkabout tasting rather than a seated, formal one.
