The Médoc's crus bourgeois represent the best of the non-classified growths, as explained here. The just-announced selection of 2009s are some of the best value wines to have come out of Bordeaux. Ever. The super-ripe, healthy, plump style of this vintage suits some of these less favoured terroirs down to the ground – a bit like the way some of the Côte d'Or's less glamorous villages come into their own in exceptionally warm vintages there.
