• Masochism squared – the first MW to climb Mt Everest (who has also, incidentally, just become the first-ever American chairman of the MW Institute)
• David Hohnen, founding father of Cloudy Bay (and described by Jancis as a could-have-been 'fine male model') steps down from his iconic winery after 18 years at the helm. McHentry Hohnen was the result
• Rather coincidentally, a Huet tasting back to 1947, which will make for an interesting comparison with the more up-to-date Huet tasting (also going back to 1947) that Jancis will publish at the end of this month
• Tim James grills Jancis on the dangers of competition tasting and trends in the South African wine industry
