Ch de Pez 2021 St-Estèphe
17
62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc. From the Roederer stable. Cask sample.
Rather sumptuous nose. Fleshy, almost sweet – certainly many steps taken to ensure this is not too austere. Good drive and excellent delivery of ripe fruit. Underneath there is the stoniness of the appellation and I assume that Montrose, for example, is more concentrated and will live longer but this is a pretty successful wine. Fresh, long finish. Good stuff! Very nicely balanced.
