Masi, Campofiorin 2018 IGT Verona

16.5

Full bottle 1,291 g. This was the original Masi wine. Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Made using the Masi double-fermentation technique where the wine is vinified and them re-fermented with 25% whole, semi-dried grapes. Two-thirds is aged in 90-hl Slavonian oak botti and one-third in new French and Slavonian oak barrels.
Morello cherries and wild raspberries, the lick of a dusty spice-jar draw, the bitter-green tang of rosemary twigs and velvety tannins. So very Veronese with easy approachability and yet real finesse, and at a graceful 13%, a wine that would be a pleasure to drink at any table, almost with any food. VGV at the Waitrose price – snap it up!
