Sagemoor, Miguel the Man Merlot/Cabernet Franc 2016 Columbia Valley
70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. From what is now (since 2021) the White Bluffs AVA.
Medium ruby in colour, muted nose but with light aromas of raspberry jam and a touch of something herbal. Tannins are hard and high. Acid is high. Flavours fall off rather fast. This wine is in two different places, the structure is young and unmelded but the fruit has started to fade a bit. The herbal varietal typicality is very much in its favour. Sagemoor is quite well respected as a grower and they just, in 2022, got a new winemaker and are hoping to build a facility: don't rule these out for the future, I do believe they'll get better. (SCJ)
