Many a year in the Southwold tastings the Merlot-based wines on the right bank are outclassed by the Cabernet Sauvignon-based ones on the left bank but in 2022 the best right-bank wines were just as successful as the best wines grown on the left bank.
That said, perhaps my least favourite 2022s were the less successful right-bank wines which, admittedly, are not overpriced but showed the faults of the overdone St-Émilions made...
