£1,000 worth of wine and food to win

Are you really not interested in winning a long weekend in the Languedoc that is worth more than £1,000?

On Tuesday I announced our Your Views Competition. We have two places on a delicious-sounding four-night wine tour of the Languedoc at Chateau Ventenac in the Minervois (pictured here) to give away to the purple pager who makes the most valuable contribution(s) to the new Your views section, a place to share tasting notes and reviews of restaurants, bars, hotels and wine and food stores.

Remarkably few of you seem interested in this prize, detailed day by  day here. Perhaps the dates 2-6 Oct 2008 are unsuitable for most of you? Perhaps you find the new system for adding tasting notes and reviews unfriendly or unfathomable? Perhaps three days' wining, dining and learning about the wines of the Languedoc in the company of  Master of Wine Juliet Brice Jones does not appeal?

Do feel free to add comments on the idea of the competition below, but I thought that in view of all the shenanigans involved in the first week of this new site design that some of you may not have seen the first article about the competition.

In view of the relatively limited response, I will move the final deadline for submissions from midnight this Saturday to midnight on Monday night, 15 Sep London time, and will announce the winner on Tuesday 16 Sep. That is not to say that the contributions we have received so far are not valuable enough to win the prize, just that we'd love to have some more of them!

Visit Your views now and share some of your opinions. Reviews don't have to be favourable. If you genuinely feel that somewhere's, or some wine's, exalted reputation is misplaced, let us know.
