Aus$26 million bid for Xanadu

The coagulation of the Australian wine industry continues apace with Rathbone, the company that now owns Yering Station in the Yarra Valley, Mt Langhi of Victoria and Parker Estate in Coonawarra having today offered Aus$26 million for Xanadu of Margaret River. Shareholders are being advised to accept this offer at a meeting in late July.  

Xanadu’s Lagan Cabernet Sauvignon did particularly well in the tasting of top Trans-Tasman Cabernets on which I reported recently. Mount Langhi has long been a great source of cooler climate Australian Shiraz, while Yering Station seems to be on a roll. See RSVP –...
