Find this wine

I got home this evening (Thursday) intending to write about my chosen wine of the week in some detail before having to go out early Friday morning for a full day out and about – only to find that we have been burgled. The car and some quite valuable jewelry have gone but the worst is the mess that has been left behind – and the irreparable damage to the double locked Victorian window that was forced open about an hour before I returned – with, quaintly, a garden fork.

So I'm afraid I just don't have time to do anything more than to share with you my tasting note on the wine I think is really rather special, and to provide you with a link to finding it. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, it is not available in the UK, but is easy to find in the US and is also on sale in Germany and the Netherlands.

Look at the age of those vines!

Belasco de Baquedano, Ar Guentota Malbec 2008 Mendoza 17 Drink 2012-2022
Winemaker: Bertrand Bourdil – ex Château Mouton Rothschild and founder of Opus One, the partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. 100% Malbec from a block of 108-year-old vines – aged in new French Allier oak for 12 months.
Meaty and substantial and really, really interesting. Reminds me a little of some of the old-vine wines from Kay Bros of McLaren Vale but with a fresher finish. Racy. Not a silly price at all. Dry but not drying finish. Intriguing. GV 14%
£17.49
