Ch Vignelaure of Aix – an improving tale

Ch Vignelaure outside the pretty university town of Aix-en-Provence is one of the properties to come to the aid of a neighbour this year, as reported in Provençal rescue. By coincidence, I have had the chance to see how its reds have been evolving. Following the local tradition, they combine Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah and a little bit of Grenache. When in the 1960s the property was taken over by Georges Brunet, the old owner of Ch La Lagune, Cabernet cuttings were brought from that property in the southern Médoc, so Vignelaure boasts Provence's oldest Cabernet vines.
