Champagne – Pinot-dominant growers

Champagne grower Eriz Rodez in his Ambonnay vineyard

The first of many reports on what is going on in the rapidly evolving Champagne region at the moment concentrates on two of the best growers, Eric Rodez and Bérêche & Fils.

In terms of overall sales figures, Champagne may be taking a bit of battering from the likes of Pros*cco and English sparkling wine, but what’s going on in the region belies that. There are all sorts of new producers, some completely new and some a new generation of an established producer or (often) grape grower, determined to put their seal on their very own range of champagnes.
