Charity Fine Wine Dinner in London

Wednesday 23 April 2008 • 1 min read
Linden Wilkie of The Fine Wine Experience is organizing a charity dinner with some pretty special wines on Tuesday 20 May (during the London Wine Trade Fair) at London’s Institute of Directors. It’s in aid of Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust, just like the efforts of his team – The Grand Crew – when they take part in Trailwalker in July, a 100-km walk over the South Downs. He says, “It’s a tough physical challenge – especially if you saw the state of our team!”

Half the participants of the fundraising dinner have provided smart wine (multiple bottles or large formats) while the other half, the likes of you, are meant to provide the money. Tickets are £375 although see full details  of how to pay below.

The four-course dinner will be accompanied by:

1993 Vilmart, Coeur de Cuvée 1993 Champagne (magnum)
Dom Leflaive 2000 Chevalier-Montrachet
Sorrel, Le Gréal 1989 Hermitage
Chapoutier, Le Pavillon 1989 Hermitage (magnum)
Penfold’s Grange 1991 South Australia
San Giusto a Rentennano, Percarlo 1997 (magnum)
Ridge, Monte Bello 1996 Santa Cruz Mountains (the wine famously served blind and taken by all as Old World at the Napa MW conference)
Ch Lafite-Rothschild 1995 Pauillac
Ch Gruaud Larose 1985 St-Julien (double magnum)
Ch d’Yquem 1983 Sauternes
De Sousa, Bual 1900 Madeira

Tickets are £375 in total and places are very limited. Those interested are asked to pay The Fine Wine Experience £225 which will covers the dinner, IOD room and glass hire, etc for both the an attendee and a wine provider. (The Fine Wine Experience will donate any surplus and pay for any shortfall). Once your place is confirmed you are asked to visit The Grand Crew’s fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/aiko and make a donation of at least £150 (making up the minimum total ticket price of £375).

On the night, David Elswood, International Head of Christie’s Wine Department and a superb auctioneer, will conduct a charity auction. You will be able to bid on some fine wine lots!
If you would like to donate a fine wine lot (or anything we can auction on the night!) please contact Linden Wilkie at the address below.
