Feedback please on your ideal tasting notes presentation

Thursday 17 May 2007 • 1 min read
Carey Hiles of Subhub is hard at work on a new, much more efficient tasting notes database and associated tasting notes search. Do let us know if you have any specific ideas for improvements. I can’t guarantee that we will fulfil every request but we are most anxious to have as much input at this stage as possible.

At the moment you can search our database of tasting notes by producer, wine name, appellation, region, vintage, colour and minimum score. You can also key in phrases such as Premier Cru. Would it also, for example, be helpful to be able to search by suggested drinking date? Say, suggesting which year you wanted to drink the wine in? Let us know your likes and dislikes in the Add a comment box below.

At the moment tasting notes search results are presented by vintage, youngest vintages first, and then by date of tasting note. (You will be delighted to know that some very curious dates of tasting notes currently entered into the database – 2030? – should be sorted out as a result of this new system.)

And in the tasting notes articles, which at the moment tend to have the tasting notes listed alphabetically by producer, I assume you might like the opportunity within these specific articles (as opposed within the search results) to sort tasting notes by, for example, descending score, or appellation?

Our tasting notes database is not, alas, fully up to date. Only a portion of the 1,500 2005 burgundy tasting notes are in there for instance, and none of the 450 2006 bordeaux tasting notes. Nevertheless, there are currently 15,000 tasting notes in the system for you to access, sort and compare, so please do continue to use the current tasting notes search until its replacement is ready.

I am a little wary of making things too complicated but we would be very grateful for any and all suggestions in the box below.
