I go Down Under

When you read this, I hope to be in Sydney, Australia, recovering from flying halfway round the world, from high summer to one of the coolest winters on record. This four week trip has been inspired by an invitation to judge at the Hunter Valley wine show which, unlike the big state or national shows, takes place conveniently during the British school holidays.

My aim is to take a break from a particularly heavy workload, particularly my recent book commitments as well as my weekly Financial Times column, so the site may not be as frequently updated as usual (although I’ve said this before…). Julia Harding MW and I will be sharing responsibility for the lively your turn forum on purple pages and I’m sure you’ll enjoy her expertise and her calm and helpful tone. She is relatively fresh from the demands of the Master of Wine exam so is much better equipped than me to answer technical questions.

Do please keep visiting however as I’ll be continuing to add to the site throughout August, in between helping Nick research Australia’s restaurant scene. Thank you so much for your interest in www.jancisrobinson.com. We’ll do our utmost to keep it informative, useful, entertaining and, above all, fun.
