Anyone who wants to try to convince us judges that they deserve £3,000 ($5,500) to spend on a food- or drink-related travel project should visit for more details of this international Award made in memory of a pioneering importer of New World wines into the UK.

Last year's winner was Mary Taylor of New Zealand who used her bursary to help victims of a tsunami in a Sri Lankan fishing community. The 2004 Award was won by Georgian wine producer Shalva Khetsuriani who visited leading winemakers in France with the aim of upgrading techniques and knowledge in this cradle of viticulture.
