Last two weeks to support Wine Relief

Friday 2 March 2007 • 1 min read

Red Nose Day is two weeks today which means you have just two more weeks to buy wine and support Wine Relief. I have already written about my favourites among the wines selected whereby 10% of the retail price goes to Comic Relief. Please try to combine your love of wine with supporting Comic Relief's truly exceptional, carefully-monitored, overhead-free projects in Africa and the UK.

Last night's giant Wine Relief wine tasting in Edinburgh was fantastic, thanks to the hard work of Rose Murray Brown MW and a host of wine merchants and other supporters. Well over 400 wine lovers (not drunks) packed the Assembly Rooms and seemed seriously interested in what was on offer.  The total raised from that one evening was more than £6,000. I just wish that there were more people throughout the rest of the country with the energy and will to organise such a successful event.

A very similar giant wine tasting for Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge the night before also had 400 keen tasters and a waiting list of 100. Who says the British aren't interested in wine? (See

Apologies that this is a very UK-based story but it really is worthwhile.
