New entries in the third Oxford Companion

Tuesday 19 September 2006 • 3 min read

On Saturday I wrote about the mechanics of putting together the new, third edition of The Oxford Companion to Wine published in the UK on Thursday and in the US on Oct 1. (It will be available exclusively online to purple pagers from March next year; for the moment the online version available here is the second edition, first published in 1999.)

Below is an alphabetical list of all the terms given their own new entry, however short, in the new edition. The names in bold refer to entries that are pure ‘pointers’ to other, more substantial entries, but I thought you might be interested in some of the terms that Julia and I felt were useful and relevant to wine today – or I overlooked last time.
