Next week – a warning

Phew! The autumn tasting season is certainly in full swing in London. My palate and liver will breathe sighs of relief next week when I plan to extract myself from the overloaded tasting tables and re-acquaint myself with the Douro valley in northern Portugal which I last visited more than 20 years ago.

They tell me that things have changed enormously there since then, but so wild is this part of the world, and so fractured my itinerary, that I can't feel confident of finding an online connection as easily as usual so I may not be able to respond to your emails with much speed.

Please bear with me. I will try to leave a decent supply of input over the week and will check in when I can. But if you have contributions to make to your turn, "the most courteous wine forum on the planet" (La Revue du Vin de France) on purple pages, do try to send them by Monday morning if you want to be sure of a response before 25 sep.

Now, back to those tasting notes...
