Jancis writes This year the organisers of the New Wave South Africa tasting moved back to the basement of Soho record store Phonica. This was fine – apart from the noise (not a sound-absorbing soft furnishing in sight). The only problem was that the basement is insured for only 320 people, and there were many more who were keen to taste this array of exciting wines. (The event was oversubscribed.)
