It’s astonishing that despite the existential challenges faced by Santorini’s winegrowers – a culmination of climatic tribulations compounded by poorly controlled tourism/development, neglected vineyards and competition among producers – it’s still possible to buy high-quality wines, and wines that age well, from this unique, hot and semi-arid place where the old vineyards are the island’s greatest vinicultural treasure.
