Rhône 2010 tasting notes next week

See also my final round-up of great wines for this time of year – strong and/or sweet.

This is just a heads up for those of you who have been asking when we will be publishing the hundreds of tasting notes on the lovely 2010 vintage, those made by me in the Rhône Valley at the end of November and the beginning of this month, and at a series of tastings in London by both me and Julia. (The picture of Ch de Vaudieu vines was taken on my Blackberry on my way back from tasting at Ch Rayas at the end of last month, by the way.)

Tamlyn Currin has valiantly been adding all these wine reviews to our fully searchable database of more than 60,000 tasting notes and our plan is the following:

Mon 19 Dec – Whites and the odd rosé
Tue 20 Dec – Châteauneuf-du-Pape reds
Wed 21 Dec – Other southern Rhône reds
Thu 22 Dec – Northern Rhône reds

We just hope very much we can keep to this timetable. I will be publishing an overview of the vintage on Saturday 7 January – and possibly the week after if I find I have a great deal to say – but we thought we would publish the tasting notes as soon as possible since several UK merchants at least have been making offers of 2010 Rhônes, including the following:

Bibendum
Fine + Rare
H2V
Genesis
Goedhuis
Justerini & Brooks
OW Loeb
Stevens Garnier
Yapp
