The premier of South Australia Mike Rann blew through London at the end of last week on the way to the Cancun talks on climate change, one of his big issues. Another has been the appointment of outside specialist advisors whom he has called Thinkers in Residence, who, he claims, have had an enormously beneficial effect on the way the state is run and designed. Great title. I sat next to one who had to leave a lunch given in Rann's honour at Australia House (pictured) early to get back to Bethnal Green.
