What better day to publish these notes on the Douro's impressive range of table wines, both red and white, than Portugal Day? A bank holiday in Portugal and celebrated by the Portuguese diaspora, Portugal Day – officially known as Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas – commemorates the death in 1580 of Portuguese poet and literary hero Luís de Camões. The Diplomat of the Douro is sure to be raising a glass of something delicious.
