1999 Burgundies tasted March and April 2002

I'm delighted to report that another look at the 1999 red burgundies now that they are in bottle did nothing to diminish my enthusiasm for this exceptional vintage. (See my tasting notes on this vintage back in February 2001.)
The great thing is that so many of them not only have great, healthy colours but, perhaps more importantly, have a stunning combination of fruit characterised by the relevant appellations and lovely ripe tannins – not to mention attractive balancing acidity in most cases.
