Given our long-standing campaign to promote lighter and more recyclable packaging, and especially to name and shame those who continue to use heavyweight bottles (see, most recently, Lighter bottles, tougher cardboard), we wanted to publicise the online tool just launched by Britain's WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) initiative as part of their Glassrite Wine Project.
The Lightweight wine bottle directory provides information on manufacturers of lighter weight bottles around the world. You just select bottle style, colour, closure, etc and it tells you what is available and where.
An entirely new generation of lightweight bottles that look and behave just like heavier models is now available.
Should you find yourself named and shamed on this site, or be considering sourcing lighter bottles, we hope this encourages you to lighten up.
