我上次更新还是在我怀疑感染COVID-19的第9天。最近,我完全丧失了嗅觉和味觉,目前正在慢慢恢复。今天是4月1日(我想不出有什么恶作剧能够与我们现在的遭遇相比),也是我怀疑感染COVID-19的第18天,所以我想更新一下最近的情况。

我收到了很多友好亲切的信息,还有一些信息来自和我处境相同的人。他们最近也完全丧失了嗅觉和味觉,对此感到关切和担心是可以理解的。据我所知,有18个人也患有不同程度的嗅觉缺失症。当我第一次经历嗅觉缺失的时候,我在报纸上看不到任何关于它是潜在症状的信息。虽然可以在谷歌上看到一些相关文章,但当时并没有被广泛报道。过了9-10天后,它现在已经是“正式”确认的感染症状,至少在英国是这样。

上周我还提到,这是一种需要非常谨慎对待的病毒,我至今仍百分之百坚持这一说法。第八天,我以为我的情况在改善,于是做了一些轻微(非常轻微)的运动,但我的肺不允许,呼吸短促、虚弱无力、头晕目眩齐齐向我袭来。一系列的症状告诉我,我想当然的轻微运动显然并不是个好主意。我在第九天的更新中最后说:“我想我已经正式康复了。”

正式康复的那天下午,我决定出去散散步(从症状出现到现在已经9天了,根据政府的指导方针,我已被允许外出)。走了大约有1.5英里(约合2.4公里),我从河边散步回家,仅仅是这样,我就已经筋疲力尽、气喘吁吁了。我的肺部又开始疼痛,而且伴随着头晕。两小时后,我的体温回升到39.6度,我直接就上床睡觉了。盗汗卷土重来。与此同时,我又失去了食欲,嗅觉和味觉的可能只剩下50%。

接下来的三四天非常相似。虽然我醒来时感觉好多了,但还是会感到恶心,唯一想吃的就是香蕉泥和蜂蜜。我不是很喜欢香蕉,但我的身体需要它们。到了下午早些时候,我的体温再次回升,头晕,疲惫不堪。每天我都坚持吸入如芥末、香水、除臭剂、马麦酱等具有强烈气味的物质,因此我的嗅觉似乎比我那些同样受到感染的朋友恢复得要快一些。

到了第16天,我感觉好多了,虽然还是没什么食欲,但体温已恢复正常。我决定喝一杯葡萄酒——一种相对便宜的南非黑皮诺。嗯——至少可以说这款酒没什么意思,相当乏味——口感平淡,有金属味道,酸度也比较突出。我一点儿也不喜欢。可见,虽然我的味觉和嗅觉确实在好转,但依然未痊愈。然而,这肯定要比9天前好很多,至少现在我可以说,我的嗅觉大约恢复80%,味觉恢复70%。好消息是,昨晚我喝了金巴利(Campari)加奎宁水(tonic),我觉得它们尝起来要比葡萄酒好很多。

那些担心失去嗅觉和味觉的人,对此一定要有耐心。就整个体验而言,这个过程是令人沮丧的,但我确信这几乎可以保证完全恢复。可能需要一周或者一个月,甚至更长的时间,但鉴于大局观,这真的只是个小麻烦。

请任何COVID-19的疑似患者放轻松,不要过度劳累。据我所知,超过一半的患者都有过类似的复发症状,所以要好好休息,拿本书待在家里。未来会更好。
