According to Daniel Thomases, another large Montalcino property, Castiglion del Bosco, has just been sold to Ferragamo, the footwear and fashion house which already has a winery in the Arno river valley between Florence and Arezzo (and, incidentally, in whose Portmeirion-like Tuscan model village the European offices of the American Wine Spectator magazine are located). Riccardo Cotarella had just started at Castiglion del Bosco, but he will be replaced by Nicolò D'Afflitto, a consultant who makes the wines for Frescobaldi and the Frescobaldi-Mondavi joint venture who already has an association with Ferragamo in the Arno valley.
