Report from Bordeaux 2

What's amazing is that Bordeaux really does have two very good – let's reserve the word great for a while – vintages in a row. The last time Bordeaux saw consecutive highly successful vintages is debatable. The 1995 and 1996 didn't really qualify, even though the first vintage was heavily touted at the time. The pair 1989 and 1990 were unusually ripe and could possibly qualify, but the market was distinctly depressed at the time.
