As this picture of where I live suggests, venturing out and about on the London burgundy tasting route is a perilous venture in our freezing weather. Tasters tend to talk about ice and train failures rather than the wines.
So far, in addition to my visits to 28 domaines in Burgundy in November, I have tasted about 150 burgundy 2008s on the London circuit – a tiny fraction of the total I am likely to see at today's two tastings and the many other tastings that Julia and I will try to take advantage of over the next 10 days...
