Don't expect to be able to contact anyone in the London wine trade this afternoon. A memorial mass is being said for Patrick Sandeman at 3 pm at Farm Street Catholic church in the West End. I expect we will be spilling out on to the pavement.

The family have asked those who attend not to dress too gloomily, so I intend to wear a ridiculously juvenile pink spotted coat on whose absurdity Patrick himself commented once.
