Deep ruby with bricky rim. Concentrated and balsamic rather than fruit-driven nose. A much lighter palate than the nose would have it. While it isn’t short of acidity the fruit is losing its lustre rather quickly. (WS)

Already seriously mature-looking ruby with bricky rim. Rich cherry-liqueur nose with sweet oak notes and hints of tobacco leaf and tar. Tangy, supple cherry fruit with a bit of oak and drying, soft, stalky tannins. Pleasant, but already much too developed for Brunello. (WS)

Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. A little stalky and reductive on the nose with notes of oak and tobacco leaf. Maturing, dark fruit with ripe acidity and rustic tannins. Quite easy-going and already a little too mature in spite of the plentiful acidity on the finish. For the medium term. (WS)

Dark ruby with orange tinges. Deep, dramatic balsamic nose with a hint of oak. The palate is sheer precision without being short of concentration. Polished, tangy fruit with a layer of sandy tannins streamlining the whole. Generous but still a little embryonic. (WS)

Deep ruby with orange tinges. Rather stalky and reduced and with no obvious fruit right now on the nose. The palate is the opposite with rich, juicy cherry fruit and a eucalyptus note from the oak, followed by rich, grainy tannins. Needs an additional year to come round and show its true colours. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. Rich, brooding and a little stalky. Concentrated and full-on but lacking a little in precision. Definitely a bang-for-your-buck kind of wine. (WS)

Lustrous deep ruby with orange tinges. Firm, concentrated fruit nose with spice hints. Bags of tangy fruit and ripe, grainy tannins striking a very good balance. Long, chewy, deep fruit. This will develop nicely over the next few years. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. The nose is not entirely open yet, hinting at concentrated cherry fruit. Lots of sappy, tangy cherry fruit with mellow, creamy notes. The dry tannins let the wine down a bit; otherwise this is pretty much ready. (WS)

Lustrous mid to deep ruby. Brooding and still closed on the nose. Supple, focused cherry fruit with fine-ground tannins. Youthful and with proper grip on the finish. Needs more time. (WS)

Deep ruby with orange tinges. Savoury, saline mineral notes over raspberry and cherry fruit. Generous, suave cherry fruit that is still a little embryonic, matched by beautiful, fine, long, coating tannins. A monument in the making. (WS)

Deep ruby. Brooding and concentrated but still rather numb on the nose. Supple, lush cherry fruit with underlying sandy tannins. Elegant and suave, even if that is not something everyone expects of a Brunello. (WS)

Lustrous, deep ruby. A nose bursting with minerally, salty notes but a little closed on the fruit. With aeration pure cherry reluctantly emerges from the glass. Intense yet poised tangy cherry fruit of great depth. Concentrated and transparent at the same time. Gorgeous gritty tannins building up on the finish. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. Stalky rather than fruity on the nose, but this might just be a tad reduced. Supple and with tangy acidity, but the fruit is already a little too ripe and developed for it to have a proper future. Seems to have been conceived for immediate consumption. (WS)

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Brooding, rich cherry fruit on the nose with an attractive pinch of spice from oak it seems. Lashings of succulent cherry fruit and crunchy tannins. Completely ready now, which I don’t entirely expect from a Brunello, but it is undeniably attractive. (WS)

At first a tiny bit oxidised with a hint of apple peel, but its adds complexity rather than distracts. Great purity of fruit underneath with fresh mint and hints of cinnamon bark. Gorgeous raspberry fruit and lightness of touch on the palate and super-animating gritty tannins. Very distinctive and original. (WS)

Very dark ruby with orange tinges. Firm cherry nose with minerally hints. Youthful, tangy cherry fruit on the palate charged with stalky tannins. Loads of acidity on the finish keeping things fresh. Still unsettled for the moment, and needs age for the whole to come together. It will be worth the wait. (WS)

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Open-knit, full nose with dark fruit and hints of cinnamon. Supple, ripe fruit with chewy tannins. Perfectly acceptable, but lacks in complexity as well as ambition. (WS)

Dark ruby with bricky rim. A layer of spicy oak over very ripe, but still lively, cherry fruit. Lots of lush sour-cherry fruit and bags of sandy tannins. Just a tiny apple-peel note on the finish, but this could perhaps have been a cask sample? (WS)

Very dark ruby with bright orange tinges. Rich, brooding cherry with a suggestion of eucalyptus. Supple fruit that at the same time is still rather curled up. Grainy, long tannins and lots of juice on the finish. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. A little spicy and still quite tight on the nose. Compact cherry fruit and with plenty of depth on the palate. Proper concentration with lots of supple acidity and a core of gravelly tannins. Needs more time but this shows lots of promise. Beautiful label. (WS)

Maturing mid ruby with bricky rim. Generous fruit nose with hints of tobacco and a suggestion of dried fruit that goes away with aeration. Sappy and ripe on the palate and loaded with grainy tannins. The surprise is kept for the finish where it becomes increasingly pure and focused. A little enigmatic and although it seems ready, it is not. (WS)

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Balsamic deep cherry fruit on the nose with hints of exotic spice. Supple fruit with bitter-sweet, laurel-tasting tannins that become a little dry on the finish. Already a little developed and ready now. (WS)

Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Compact and still a little closed on the nose with the faintest hint of oak. With aeration stony notes emerge. Same embryonic impression on the palate with a thick layer of fantastic, gravelly tannins. Finely balanced and right now with a gripping structure – but this needs more time. Lustrous, deep ruby. Lifted nose of complex oak and raspberry and sour cherry. With aeration the whole integrates. Deep raspberry fruit with subtle acidity woven in. Plush raspberry-fruit finish with long-lasting, gripping, super-tactile tannins. Needs at least a couple of years in bottle, but this has great potential. Lush and juicy and tannic in equal measure. Dark ruby with orange tinges. Rich and a little brooding and with hints of dried fruit. Dense, ripe, tangy fruit palate that is a little lacklustre. Result of a very (too) late harvest? Ready now. (WS)

Succulent, deep, polished marasca cherry on the palate with deep, chalky tannins. Immense length and concentration, but balanced at the same time. Still needs to lose it intense fruit sweetness, but I can imagine some would tuck in right now and enjoy its voluptuousness. (WS)

Already developing ruby with bricky rim. A concentrated cherry nose that is a little too mature for a wine that claims to have considerable ageing capacity. Rich, round cherry fruit with zippy acidity and ripe tannins. Super-accessible and concentrated, but lacking real Brunello pedigree. (WS)

Maturing deep ruby with orange tinges. Slumbering nose with exotic spice top notes. Still embryonic yet polished with fine-ground, chewy tannins that need more time. Long, finely aromatic cherry and raspberry finish. So sleek and elegant and at the same time not short of concentration. Carries its 15% effortlessly. Real substance yet not heavy. (WS)

Lustrous mid ruby. Stunning nose chock-full of minerals with raspberry and a hint of eucalyptus. Elegant and succulent with pure raspberry and super-fine but firm tannins lining the fruit. Great precision. Transparent. (WS)

Deep to dark ruby. Dusty oak notes mingle with rich cherry fruit on the nose. Plenty of supple, concentrated sour-cherry fruit, with drying tannins from the oak that will settle with an additional year in bottle. Overall, this is rather easy-going, while I’d expect more than that. (WS)

Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. A tiny bit stalky and balsamic on the nose with a medicinal hint – like the medicinal wine administered to the elderly as an iron supplement. Mellow fruit with a bit of tangy acidity and soft, bitter tannins. Readily accessible and a little too innocent for the lofty name on its label. (WS)

Impenetrable dark ruby. A curious nose of rich, dark fruit with dried fruit and top notes of cassis, cinnamon and apple peel. Lots of fruit, tannins and acidity on the palate, but still it cannot escape the impression that this is a little overripe and pushed for concentration. (WS)

Maturing mid to deep ruby with bricky rim. Brooding and concentrated but not yet open on the nose. Embryonic, tangy, sleek cherry fruit with grainy tannins. Has the capacity to age, but lacks a little in complexity and hedonistic appeal. (WS)

Mid ruby. Balsamic minerally cherry-fruit nose with hints of iron and slow to open up. Elegant, fresh cherry and raspberry fruit and completely dry. Long, aromatic finish with chewy tannins. Old school in a good way. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. Pretty nose of red fruit with a dark earth note and a mere suggestion of oak. Cool-climate character. Sleek and succulent and with fine, gripping tannins; more direct than the Rennina of the same vintage. Will improve with more bottle age, even if it is already very attractive. (WS)

A layer of suave cherry and raspberry fruit lined with quite powerful tannins that demand more time. Carries its 15% with ease. Closes up on the finish and in need of more time. (WS)

Deep maturing ruby with bright brickstone rim. Rich and ripe on the nose and supple and generous on the palate, followed by rather stubborn tannins. Could do with a little more complexity but can already be approached – with a steak, that is. (WS)

Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Still quite tight and backward on the nose with shy cherry spiked with minerally notes. Tightly knit palate with cherry framed by a big layer of firm, finely ground tannins that cling to the inside of the cheeks. Elegant and long and still embryonic. (WS)

Just mid ruby. A lively concentrated nose of perfumed red fruit. A real step up from the rosso, more complex and with great depth, while maintaining its elegance. Sappy, almost racy and pure on the finish with fine tannins lining the fruit. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Full cherry nose with cedar, hints of tar and morocco leather. Supple, tangy cherry fruit, while both the acidity and the powdery tannins become more marked on the finish. Ready now. (WS)

Lustrous and just mid ruby with orange tinges. It is at first a little backward on the nose, then opens up to shy perfumed cherry with a hint of coffee bean. Fresh and sleek on the palate with a layer of gravelly tannins under the ever-so-slightly lean fruit. (WS)

Just mid lustrous ruby with some orange tinges. Subdued, concentrated nose that needs time to open up. Balsamic cherry with a peppery note. Hints of herb liqueur, and with aeration enveloping. The palate is much less open and forward. Compact and tangy fruit with fine but firm tannins, on the finish this opens up. Great purity of fruit. Lots of fresh acidity and with fantastic structuring tannins, but they will need more time. Quite a beautiful wine. (WS)

Mid to deep maturing ruby with orange tinges. Stalky and slightly dusty cherry fruit on the nose. Could be from oak? Tangy, lively cherry with creamy notes from oak followed by tannins that are a little dry on the finish. An additional year in bottle might do the trick. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby. Concentrated and youthful on the nose and still needs time to open up. Generous, suave cherry on the palate with polished tannins that grow in stature on the finish. A bit like a more robust version of Poggio di Sotto. (WS)

Deep ruby with orange tinges. Brooding, closed and a tiny bit reduced on the nose and with a hint of cocoa powder. Supple, aromatic, sleek cherry fruit on the palate with gripping tannins. Grows on you. (WS)

Deep ruby with bricky rim. Ripe nose that seems to be developing fast. Ripe, sweet, dark fruit that lacks real expression as well as originality. Completely ready now. (WS)

Lustrous ruby. A simply stunning, complex nose of taut cherry layered with garden herbs. Lots of juice that is fantastically balanced by gorgeous, fine-grained tannins. Complete. (WS)

Mid ruby. Very subdued nose that only shows hints of minerals. Elegant palate that is still firmly closed yet suave and finely balanced with gritty, yet fine, tannins. Very long, focused and exciting. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby. Spicy, aromatic but not sweet oak notes and subdued fruit. Polished cherry and raspberry fruit with a nice bite of ripe tannins on the finish and completely integrated oak. Elegant palate weight. (WS)

Mid ruby. Firm, savoury nose and with very subdued fruit. Supple, tangy cherry palate that is much more accessible than the nose would have you believe. Crunchy tannins on the finish, and my guess is that there is more to come. (WS)

Dark, maturing ruby with narrow bricky rim. Already a little developed on the nose with ripe cherry fruit. More youthful on the palate with lively cherry and firm tannins. The fruit could have been a little more concentrated to really match the bold structure. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby with narrow bricky rim. A stalky nose that is a little impure and probably caused by reduction. Bags of sweet, juicy ripe fruit and powdery tannins. Rustic, if not short of fruit. (WS)

Dark ruby with orange tinges. Undeniably concentrated on the nose and with a hint of damson, but still a little brooding and with minerally, saline notes and a hint of morocco leather. Bags of tangy fruit on the palate that is at the same time composed and with gorgeous gravelly tannins. Great length and lots of juice on the finish. Can be approached now but has all the building blocks to age gracefully. Proper old-school stuff. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Stalky, sweet and a little reduced on the nose. Brooding, sweet cherry with a hint of cocoa powder. Rather sweet, candied-cherry palate made even more mellow by oak while ending on dried-fruit notes. This needs a big rethink. (WS)

Maturing ruby with bricky rim. Quite developed, mature and brooding cherry-fruit nose with hints of tobacco. The palate is much more backward yet well stitched together with loads of chewy tannins that do not overpower the fruit. Old school and I would wait another two years before approaching this. Very long and gripping. (WS)

Deep ruby. Compact and tight on the nose with hints of sweet raspberry and fresh mint. Bags of sweet raspberry fruit on the palate with a tangy acidic nerve running through the abundance of fruit. Firm but ripe and fine-grained tannins. Quite a rich wine, but will probably age well. (WS)

Unfiltered. Lustrous mid ruby. Rich cherry fruit on the nose, and supple, concentrated cherry fruit on the palate, but much less concentrated than the nose suggests. A tiny bit too sleek for a Brunello. (WS)

Youthful mid ruby. Full, lively cherry-fruit nose with hints of liquorice. A good mouthful of succulent cherry fruit charged with bitter-sweet tannins. Long and juicy and completely ready now, but will hold. (WS)
