When I first encountered it, I remember thinking Australian Shiraz/Viognier was the weirdest thing I had ever heard of. At the tasting I report on below, it looked like one of the most orthodox wines in the vinous canon. The portfolio in question was from Adel, an importer that works closely with NWWS, a wine consultancy company set up by David Rowe, ex-editor of Decanter magazine.
