Chile's Rhôneish reds
The quality of Chilean wine has improved enormously over the last 10 years or so. As I wrote in a series of articles listed here, I was hugely impressed by many of the wines I tasted (non blind) while in Santiago last year. But a tasting earlier this year devoted to 46 Chilean reds made from Rhôneish grape varieties was not unalloyed pleasure alas. I suspect a selection of top Chilean Cabs or Chardonnays would have provided more pleasure.
