He has largely withdrawn from public events but has decided to devote the evening of Thursday 8 December to talking about this book in order to raise
funds for his pet charity Freedom from Torture. I'm spreading the word here because he is a very good friend, a very good blind taster, and has one of the best cellars I know. So he is very sympathetic to lovers of good wine.
The event will be held from 7.30 pm at The Institute of Engineering and Technology, 2 Savoy Place, London WC2, and Julian will be discussing the book with his friend (and co-presenter of a series of programmes on BBC Radio 4) Professor Hermione Lee. This is a rare chance to buy this book and have it signed by the author.
Every penny raised, both through ticket and book sales, will go to the admirable Freedom from Torture, which does such valuable work helping victims of torture.
